Our Philosophy
Images by Kathryn Louise Geels
Our aim is to support people from disadvantaged communities move out of poverty. Our work ranges from education and training, delivering job placement services, providing information, advice and guidance to youth arts provision, mentoring young people and lobbying on behalf of England’s Black and ethnic minority (BME) communities.
We are pioneers, in the UK, of the two year post-placement follow up. After we have supported someone into employment, we do not consider our work is over, but stay with our clients to help them through the difficult early months of transition and then support their aspirations for career development.
We recognise that we have a responsibility to provide first rate services to all our clients, but avoid making them dependent on us. Our message to them is clear and consistent: We are here to help you, but we will not do it for you.
We believe in the people we serve. We care too much about them to watch them conform to negative stereotypes, without challenging them to consider themselves in an altogether more positive light.
